We’re new at this. Maybe you aren’t, so please bear with us. What we’re looking for in this blog is your opinions, feelings and information about the goings-on in our community. We’ll explore subjects such as the Mount Airy Visitors Center issue. Or the prospects of merging the Mount Airy City Schools with the Surry County Schools. Some topics won’t be so weighty. This space is for you. Just click on “Comments” (or perhaps “No Comments) below any thread and start blogging along with us.
Sounds great! I hope you guys cover some topics in the south of the county too. Will there be a sports blog?
Just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying your newspaper. It is fresh and innovative, and I especially appreciate the extent of local news coverage. The website is very nice as well. Keep up the good work!
So glad you are now on-line. There are folks, such as me, who are just a bit outside (like 500 miles!) your delivery area, but still want a Surry County “fix.” And it’s an impressive Website. The layout is logical and attractive and having the paper itself in PDF is much easier to read on-line and print out than some other online papers.
But the fact that it is free is most important – and not just because it saves the reader money. It speaks well of The Messenger’s commitment to being a service to the community, not a privilege. Is there a major newspaper (i.e. The New York Times, The Washington Post) that charges for on-line access? I don’t think so. The public has too many options to get their news online and the inconvenience of having to pay, or go thru a lengthy registration process, which, in turn, requires log-in, is just not worth it.
The internet has permanently changed the way people get their news, so kudos to The Messenger for recognizing that Surry County will benefit by your making its news readily available outside your county line.
Ditto to luv2teach.The web site is A+
Love everything I’ve looked at so far– it all looks really awesome! Congrats and keep up the good work!!!!!!!
The paper is great! Thanks for putting everything online for FREE!
Hope you can do some stories on Autistic kids education in Surry County. It appears to me that these kids are not receiving the education, attention and help they need so badly.
love the paper ,now just get the groceries stores to put the weekly ad’s in and I’ll be in hog heaven. Also I am soooooooo tired of reading about this visitor’s center just get her done!
