I remember when they first started building Malls around Mt. Airy and Main St. almost closed down. Then because of AG Mt. Airy was given new life. I think the city and surrounding area is beautiful. Down town has never looked better. Everywhere you go they are trying to build up their tourist business. It only makes sense. Use what you have and then build around it. I agree that I do not know the answer, but I do not want to see the stores on Main St. close down.
I am certain that I don’t know the answer to the budget problems, but someone in charge of it had better get their thinking and acting cap on soon or Mt. Airy is going to be a ghost town.. I am leaving the city limits as soon as I can. the tax and water increase is more than my limited budget can stand. I will not be the only one. The spending has got to stop. we just elected new comissioners and what are they doing????????????????????????? Maybe we need another election and recall the comissioners we have now and start out fresh.
I think it’s very cruel and unreasonable to blame the newly elected commissioners on problems that started way before they took their seat. Any of the commissioners can make recommendations and vote a certain way; BUT, if the others don’t agree, what can they do. I do think one has to look at ALL the seats…including that of the city manager. MOST people can not afford these increases, and they just continue to grow.
What’s the little picture thingy by our names?
It appears that WordPress (the company that hosts our blog) has decided to automatically assign colorful avatars to every poster. Typically blogs give users the option of uploading an image to work as their avatar (like a photo of themselves or one of their favorite things) to better identify those who frequently comment and add some personality to the blog. I haven’t figured out how to upload personalized avatars on here though. I’ll let you know what I can figure out
